Little Stars

Our baby room for children aged 3 months to 2 years.

The baby room offers a warm and welcoming environment for 26 children per day with a staff ratio of 1:3. We encourage each child to reach their full potential in a safe, caring and stimulating environment. We pride ourselves on being compassionate, empathetic and caring and understand and implement the importance of working closely with parents enabling you to feel completely at ease as you leave you little one with us.

Our emphasis is learning through play, especially lots of fun, wonderful messy sensory activities such as painting and a wide range of stimulating sensory equipment such as lights, blocks and visual aids. We also encourage and assist in the transition of individual independence such as learning to feed, walking and talking. Our babies enjoy garden time and trips in our buggies to the local parks, such as the duck pond.

Our aim is to encourage all aspects of communication and language skills, physical development and personal, social and emotional development. We realise the importance of British Values and this is incorporated in all aspects of our play and that each child is an individual, has very different needs, requirements, developmental levels and routines.

rainbows toddler room desks and chairs

Rainbows

Our toddler room for children from 18 months to 36 months.

Here in Rainbows we aim to help our children become confident, happy little individuals.

We encourage the children to be independent and make their own choices. We also assist with the transition from nappies to potty training when each child is ready to do so. At this age the children tend to play alongside one another but we encourage them to take turns and share with their friends.

The children are hands on with messy play, growing plants and seeds in our garden and engaging in imaginative play and exploring different areas of our room.

We aim to make the children’s introduction to learning fun by doing lots of different activities and games with numbers, shapes, letters, colours and words.

Further to this we are also able to help the children develop further in their communication and language skills, physical development and personal, social and emotional. We also use British values during our learning and play time as this is instrumental to the children’s development.

We aim to create a happy, fun and safe environment for children to thrive and learn to their full potential.

snowflakes room desks and chairs

Snowflakes

For children aged 30 months to 42 months.

We are a happy, friendly, fun team that provides a safe and secure environment for the children to learn through play and activities, to prepare them for Sunbeams or school nursery.

Whilst children are still learning through play, we carry out structured activities for children, work towards early year goals such as pencil control, turn taking, numbers and letters.

We help children further their communication skills through weekend diaries, games and free play with peers.

We promote self independence by encouraging children to self serve at meal times and introduce/support toilet training/put their coats on and choose what they want to play with.

In Snowflakes we cover monthly themes such as, shapes, numbers, nursery rhymes, vets & pets and also "all about me". This is where the children can bring in family photos, their favourite teddy to share with all their friends. They learn through play and exploring new activities.

sunbeams preschool room desks and jigsaws

Sunbeams

Our preschool room for children 3 to 5 years.

We aim to help the children prepare for school, both emotionally and physically.

We encourage independence in practical tasks, problem solving and within their relationships with others.(I.e., putting on coats and shoes as well as sharing and taking turns.)

We plan around each child’s individual interests and development requirements to help each child reach their full potential.

We aim to help the children grow in confidence by encouraging them to join in with both small and large group activities.

We provide fun and exciting activities to help them learn through play.

We help them in transitioning to school through discussions, stories, emotional puppets and dressing up in school uniforms

We also as well invite future teachers to come in and meet the children. (COVID permitting)

Here in sunbeams we aim to develop their confidence and independence skills in order to prepare them for school.

Children will take responsibility for signing themselves in and out each day, learn to put on their own coats and shoes, wash their own hands, serve themselves independently at lunchtime and pour their own drinks.

Key workers will get to know your child and plan fun activities tailored to their individual interests and development in order to help them reach their full potential, emotionally, physically and academically, following the EYFS
